Parable Braces For Another Runaway Exclusive Hit

(January 23, 2007) – Why a Crown?, the second in the non-fiction Little Books of Why™ series by Bodie and Brock Thoene, releases January 30.

Its predecessor, Parable exclusive Why a Manger?, was the sleeper hit of the Christmas season. The original print run of 50,000 quickly ran out and Parable CEO Steve Potratz ordered another 100,000 to meet Christmas demand. The book ranked No. 1 on the Parable bestseller list and outranked the No. 2 book, Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado, by a factor of four to one during the month of December.

The Thoenes received plenty of positive feedback about the impact of Why a Manger? on people's lives, including decisions for Christ. Why a Crown? is poised to make the same kind of impact.

"All the books in the Little Books of Why™ series include a section in the back in which readers can take a self-guided tour on the most important decision of their lives," says Brock Thoene.

Both books carry a strong gospel message and a small price tag to encourage use as an evangelistic tool. While Why a Manger? focused on the birth of Christ, Why a Crown? focuses on His crucifixion and victory over sin and death.

Parable plans to roll out an aggressive Easter marketing campaign for the book. Sold only in Parable stores and direct to churches through Outreach, Inc., Why a Crown? will be promoted in the group's February and March catalogs and Easter flyer. In-store POP kits will also highlight the product.

Like the first in the series, Why a Crown? is priced low for giving to many at $2.99 per single copy. The book will be in stores early February.

Christian bookstore owners, ministries and readers caught the evangelistic vision of Why a Manger?, buying up to thousands of copies to give to prison inmates, the needy and church attendees.
