(December 7, 2006) – Parable exclusive products are providing stores a much-needed extra boost this holiday season.
According to the most recent top products report for Parable stores, three of the top 10 bestsellers were exclusive items. The products represented a cross-section of departments, with the Christmas Joy CD, Why a Manger? book and silver Nativity wall cross gift occupying the No. 1, 2 and 7 spots, respectively.
"I am so ecstatic about the Parable exclusives this year," remarked Tim van Eijl of The Shepherd's Voice Parable Christian Store in Onalaska, Wisc. "They're playing a major part in our season this year. It's really making a difference."
While Parable has carried exclusive products for many years, the group has been developing its exclusive product line in earnest for the past year and a half. The purpose or focus of exclusive products has shifted, however. The primary goal of exclusive products in the past was to set Parable stores apart from other stores; the focus is now on providing much-needed margin for franchise and member stores.
In addition to gift exclusives, Parable has expanded its exclusive and private label product line with books, CDs and Bible software.
"They add margin for stores and value for customers," said Steve Potratz, Parable CEO. "Parable has always been passionate about new ideas and we believe a healthy cross-section of exclusive products will play an important part in helping stores grow."
Last quarter, the exclusive devotional First Thing Everyday and CD Re:Fresh—In the Quiet Place were both No. 1 sellers in Parable member stores.
